Our History

From concept to Zimbabwe's trusted domestic placement agency

Organizational History & Development

Our journey began with a simple idea that has grown into Zimbabwe's premier domestic placement agency. Here's our story of growth, resilience, and commitment to transforming domestic work.

2009

Concept & Research

Our concept originated in 2009, informed by comprehensive research on similar organizations in South Africa. This foundational research laid the groundwork for our establishment, studying successful models of domestic worker placement and professionalization.

2012

Organization Established

The organization was established in 2012 with a clear vision: to bridge the gap between domestic workers and families through professional, ethical placement services. Founded by a first-time mother who experienced the challenges of finding reliable domestic help firsthand.

2013

Official Ministry Registration

September 22, 2013: Our organization officially registered with the Ministry of Labour in Zimbabwe, marking a significant milestone in our journey to formalize domestic work placement.

First Office: Our inaugural office was situated at No. 4 Partimah House, Eastlea, Harare. However, the Eastlea offices closed down later in 2013 and the company temporarily stopped full-time operations.

2013-2018

Transition & Growth Period

Following the closure of the Eastlea office in 2013, operations continued on a part-time basis from Daventry House, Harare. This transitional phase spanned five years, from 2013 to 2018. During this time, we refined our processes and built our reputation through quality placements.

2016

Corporate Registration

The company was registered with the Company Registrar as a Private Business Corporation (PBC), establishing our formal corporate structure and enhancing our operational capacity.

2018

Expansion & Consolidation

March 2018: We established a new office at No. 219 Herbert Chitepo, Harare, where the company resumed full-time operations. This was our full-time home for the next 3 years as the company continued to grow and expand its services across Harare.

During this period, we developed our comprehensive recruitment and placement processes, focusing on quality assurance and client satisfaction.

2021

Strategic Partnership & Enhanced Capacity

March 2021: We formed a strategic partnership with the Domestic Workers Association of Zimbabwe (DWAZ), culminating in the launch of a larger office at No. 25 Marlborough, Harare.

Key Developments:

  • This collaboration enabled us to provide comprehensive training and induction programs for our workers prior to placement
  • The expanded facility accommodates client interviews and interactions, further enhancing our service delivery
  • We adopted this enhanced model and continue to see much benefit from it
  • Increased capacity to serve more families and provide better opportunities for domestic workers
2024 & Beyond

Continuing Commitment

Our organization remains committed to growth, innovation, and excellence, building on the foundations laid since 2009. We continue to:

  • Formalize domestic work and enhance its professional image
  • Provide a safe and respectful environment for all parties involved
  • Support Sustainable Development Goals through decent work creation (SDG 8) and poverty reduction (SDG 1)
  • Empower disadvantaged community members through skills training and employment
  • Bring sanity to the domestic work field while protecting both workers and families
